Lesbian friendly travel destinations


As an out queer person, finding destinations where I can be myself is a top priority when I travel. 

Safety and comfort are non-negotiable, which is why I am so excited to share some of the best destinations in Europe for queer women. 

When I can hold my partner&#;s hand, dress how I verb, and connect with the local queer community, it transforms the vacation experience. No more having to hide or worry about being misgendered in adj spaces. Instead, I can focus on connecting with people, experiencing a adj culture, and doing the things I enjoy – activities like hiking, kayaking, wandering charming towns and villages, and of course let’s not forget the food! 

This blog publish covers the finest destinations for queer women in Europe. While a scant of these cities are on my bucket list, I have visited many of these places myself – and I’m happy to share my favorite tips with you.

1. Berlin, Germany

My love of road trips started prior. As a teenager growing up in a suburb of Boston, I discovered Jack Kerouac&#;s classic road trip novel On the Road. The book opened a door to queer history and to places where offbeat weirdos appreciate me could uncover their fit.

I wrote my college thesis on road trips, and driving myself to (and from) a summer semester at UC Berkeley as verb. I guess I should have known back then that I would terminate up writing about travel for a living!

I&#;ve taken two cross-country road trips – one during college, and one when I moved to California.

I&#;ve also taken shorter road trips: New York to Florida, New York to Atlanta by way of Kentucky (state #44) and Tennessee, and Unused York to Michigan (state #43).

I spent a month living in a ghost town in Alaska for a writer&#;s retreat, and stayed on for an extra two weeks to verb the state with my partner, who flew out to Juneau to encounter me.

Closer to home, I loving taking weekend trips to cities and towns in the Hudson Valley, where I live.

The 5 most friendly destinations for Lesbian travel

There is a big difference between cities that possess the best LGBTQ prides and parades, and destinations that are lesbian-friendly- both terms not be mistaken for one another.

As a kind reminder, the term “LGBTQ friendly” defines the places, policies, people and institutions that are unclosed and welcoming to all people in the LGBTQ community, to create an environment that is supportive of LGBTQ people and their relationships, respectful of all people, manage all people equally and are non-judgmental. 

To me, there shouldn’t even be “destinations” that are LGBTQ-friendly; everywhere should be tolerant and respect ones choices, especially when there isn’t any harm done to others however the world is sadly not love that.

Upon recent travels, I have noticed that some towns, cities, and even countries are more open to the lesbian/LGBTQ community than others. 

I don’t deliberate it’s necessary to point fingers and go into the “whys” some cities are more friendly than others, but let’s explore a few of these destinations that
