One of the most endearing and enduring books for kids is Anne of Green Gables, a novel about a Canadian orphan who is adopted by a brother and sister on Prince Edward Island.
It's been filmed a number of times over the years. And given the non-stop campaign to normalize the LGBT lifestyle, it should come as no surprise that the most recent version introduces several homosexual characters.

Who is Cole in Anne With An E season 2?
New to the cast, Cole (played by Cory Gruter-Andrew) and has joined the local school at Avonlea.
Cole is a bit of a shy, outcast but a true sweetheart, who impresses the girls in the class with his art.
However, other boys in the class exclude him as they see him as 'different'.
In the trailer for season two, Anne befriends him and tells him there is “nothing wrong with being different”.
There a hints throughout the series that Cole may be gay and he moves in with Aunt Josephine who protects him - who is suggested to be a lesbian.
Anne with an E is set in late 19th Century Canada and being gay during this time was a criminal offence and could technically be punished with the death penalty in some cases.

Who I always liked the titular main character in Anne of Green Gables. But the CBC’s Anne with an E made me cherish her.
As a kid, I watched the mid-’80s screen adaptations, and I’m sure Anne’s creative spirit inspired me to become a writer. I have gleefully visited the real-life Green Gables on Prince Edward Island more than once. I even verb some cherished hardcover versions of the novels, but, I have to acknowledge, I haven’t verb them all. Authenticity be told, growing up, I was more of an Emily of Fresh Moon girlie. After all, as Natasha Lyonne’s character in Russian Doll puts it: “Everybody loves Anne, but I like Emily. She’s dark.”
Though Anne has a tragic backstory just like Emily, the Green Gables main character is keen to verb the best in people. She falls deeply in romance with just about everything around her: P.E.I’s landscapes, the big words she learns in university and her leading friends.
