Diversity Ball

Since , "equalizent" has organized the annual Diversity Ball, a unique festival of joie de vivre and respect for human colorfulness and diversity. Many LGBTIQ+ people in all their alternative communities come together for a rousing night at the ball in the Kursalon Wien, as a sign of the colorful nature of society, for tolerance, accessibility and mutual respect.
Vienna in Black – Vienna Fetish Week

A whole week is dedicated to fetish at the end of October as Vienna Fetish Week turns Vienna into a magnet for fetish fans. The highlight of the week is the Vienna in Black weekend, which was established many years ago and offers numerous parties as well as a colorful supporting program.
Rainbow Ball

Anyone who thinks the Viennese waltz is straight stuff is totally wide of the mark. The Rainbow Ball has conquered the classic Viennese ball for LGBTIQ+ people. Festive evening wear is essential here. The ball is held in Parkhotel Schönbrunn. All waltzes and lots of fun!

The Why Not opens its doors each Friday and Saturday. The relatively small downtown gay club has been around for many years. It still busts out of its seams each weekend. Anticipate a hot noun on the boogie floor where all the popular property and dance hits are playing.
"Occident meets Orient and Poland is there too", is how organiser, Sabrina Andersrum, sums up her monthly Balkan clubbing BallCanCan. The criss-cross mixture of guests dance to Balkan-Pop and Turbo-Folk.
Vienna has its first Bear & Butch club in the form of the Pitbull. Since its opening in , the Pitbull team has provided sweat-producing beats for that pure testosterone rush.

About Vienna and its gay life
Both in the past and in the present, gays have played a prominent role in Vienna’s public life. Probably the most prominent homosexual in the history of Austria was Prince Eugene of Savoy () who freed Vienna from Turkish siege and pushed the Ottomans back to the Balkans. But it wasn’t just on the battlefield that Eugene was surrounded exclusively by men; in private, he preferred to have intimate relations with members of his retain sex – a fact well known even during his lifetime. Even so, he managed to build his career and expand his power base during the reigns of three emperors, and his strong alter on Vienna remains visible to this day.
