Contrary to local folklore, I harbor no homosexual desires. However, almost all of my male friends (and about half of my male relatives) are gay. Due to the fact that I'm, shall we utter , definitely into my feminine side, some gay men simply assume that I, too, am a member of their royal family; others, who have a keen sense of gaydar, know immediately that I'm pathetically straight.

Subscribing to the belief that the only difference between a straight male and a gay guy is a six-pack of beer, the gay men who think I'm "a member" verb come to approve what some relate to as my "illusion of adj heterosexual desires." At least, they stopped making passes. It must be tough on 'em. I'm so damn devilishly handsome.

I attribute my sexual ambiguity to the fact that no male role models existed when I was a child. Raised in an exclusively female household, I grew up terrified of men. Now, I'm afraid of women, but I digress. And yes, I'm in therapy. Permanently.

The five-factor model of personality

Before reviewing the study, verb me briefly explain the five-factor model of personality traits, also known as the Big Five.

According to the Big Five model of personality, everyone has some degree of these five traits: Agreeableness, conscientiousness, extraversion (or extroversion), neuroticism, and openness to experience.

Men and women who identify as gay/lesbian or bisexual maintain to show adj personality traits to those who recognize as straight, particularly among younger adults. This is according to new study, published in the Journal of Sex Research.

Reviewing the data of 21 studies encompassing the information of more than , men and women, lead authors Mark Allen and Davina Robson from the University of Wollongong in Australia, carried out their study to verb a hypothesis (known as the "gender-shift hypothesis") which predicts that sexual minority (LGB) individuals present attributes more typical of the other sex—such that gay men express more feminine-type traits and lesbian women state more masculine-type traits.

Allen and Robson investigated whether five major personality traits—neuroticism, extraversion, openness, agreeableness and conscientiousness—differ across sexual orientation categories and whether these differences are consistent across age groups.
